Progress!

The GoFundMe website has been a blast. I'm making progress slowly but surely. The $500.00 non-refundable deposit has been made so now I'm even more determined than I was before to meet my goal. I will be applying for various scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial aid over the next few weeks.

Thank you again for all of your support I really appreciate it. Please share my story!

How Humbled am I?

It's been amazing to see how supportive my fund raising community has been.

Comments like:
"Aryn is an outstanding, dynamic, talented, focused, caring, intelligent young lady that I have had the privilege to have known for 12+ years. A black belt martial artist, she has given countless hours of volunteering in our community. Please help send her to Ireland, land of her roots."

"Aryn is intelligent and diligent, and this field school for anthropology is a great opportunity for her! It would be sad if she couldn't go due to lack of funds. Please help her in any way you can!"

"I love you so much girly. I am proud of you following your dreams even when they seen unattainable. An admiring characteristic of yours is your determination. I know you will go on to be a terrific forensic anthropologist and help the world. You are a true friend and I wanted to share how proud if you I am."

It's been kind of amazing to see people pull together to support my education. You never really know whose there for you until you really need them.

Ireland Bound

My name is Aryn Fisher, I'm an Anthropology student at California State University, Chico and I was accepted to go to Field School in Ireland. I wish I could put into writing how excited I am, but every time I try it comes out as garbled nonsense.

I need to go to field school, its just one of those things you're supposed to do... and so I'm looking through field schools and this one comes up that just floors me. Black Friary Ireland, a 13th century site in Ireland being excavated by eager students. I debated applying for awhile and then talked to a few of my professors who told me they thought it was an exceptional idea.

I applied and waited for the worst, assuming I didn't have the requirements to be an attendee in such an opportunity. This morning, Monday, March 3rd, 2014, I was accepted to the Black Friary Field school. I have never been so humbled or excited or scared in my life. Also... this is the best Monday ever!

The purpose of this blog is to capture my journey as I hopefully travel to Ireland and how I get there and make progress in fundraising and preparation for my assumed trip. I am accepting donations on http://www.gofundme.com/fieldschoolplea . Any and all donations are accepted.

I am also looking for travel advice and anything I may need to be prepared for. So if there are any Irish natives or for those of you lucky enough to have traveled there I'd loved to here about your experiences.

Thank you for your time, energy and support.

Much love,
Aryn
